Chris's Journey From
Homelessness to Stability

Chris's story is one of fortitude, creativity, and determination. For years, he faced the harsh realities of homelessness in Kansas City, struggling to survive while squatting in abandoned houses. The streets were unforgiving, and his physical health began to deteriorate under the weight of years spent without proper shelter or medical care. Yet, even though those dark times, Chris never let go of his spirit or his love for creating art.

A Turning Point: The Role of Summit Point Restorative in Chris' Journey

Chris’s life began to change when he was ready to leave the homeless shelter. Summit Point Restorative stepped in to offer the help he desperately needed. Chris, like so many of our program participants, has no family or support network apart from his church family at Summit Point. With Chris now on Social Security Disability, the organization provided him with housing, case management services to address his health concerns and help him regain control over his life. We work tirelessly to coordinate his medical appointments, ensuring that he receives the care he needs while offering unwavering encouragement every step of the way.

Despite his challenges, Chris has always had a spark of creativity that lights up his world. His passion for painting action figures has become a source of joy and a way for him to express himself. He immerses himself in the detailed work of bringing miniature figures to life, all while staying connected to his love of science fiction, a genre that fuels his imagination and keeps him looking forward to brighter days.

His journey hasn’t been without its hurdles. His health continues to pose challenges, and he has endured multiple hospital visits due to physical weakness. However, the team at Summit Point Restorative remains committed to providing him with the support he needs. From working on his medical needs to offering encouragement, they have been a steady presence in helping Chris navigate his path to stability.
Through all that he has endured, Chris’ story is a testament to resilience and the power of community support. He has come a long way from the days of squatting in abandoned houses in Kansas City. Today, he is not only managing his health but also rediscovering a sense of purpose through his creative pursuits. Chris’s success story is a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion, creativity, and the role that Summit Point Restorative plays in transforming lives like Chris's every day. With their help, Chris continues to pave the way to a brighter future.

Facility Security

Cameras, door locks, ballistic glass, and emergency systems play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of both buildings and individuals. Additionally, trained security personnel create a trauma-informed environment that fosters a secure space for learning and personal development.

Feeding People

Essential to programming is the ability to feed participants and staff healthy and nutritious meals. This means having a kitchen that is clean, safe, and state-of-the-art to meet the needs of feeding over 100 people a day.
